Job Description:

Perform facilities equipment service technician activities to maintain a high level of customer service in building, equipment, and utility operations. Continuously develop associate skills and find new ways of introducing new technologies and efficiency improvements. Primary role will focus on electrical systems.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Sort management (supplier contact, confirmation of op. standards, etc.).
  • Make judgment for CBU part changes
  • Effectively generate interest in new ideas within Team or Unit
  • Daily confirmation of sort effectiveness of current quality concerns
  • Ensure operation standards address safety and environmental hazards
  • Work with sorting contractors and suppliers to provide direction concerning quality issues
  • Analyze parts to the drawing and specifications to assure conformance
  • Authority to authorize removal of parts from CBU for investigation
  • Contact suppliers to report issues and request corrective action
  • Support Honda Core values: Build technical, Honda Way, and Department knowledge
  • Responsible for reviewing the previous shift’s reports, issuing new reports, and completing full investigations
  • Assure problem containment of parts and completed body units
  • Follow-up on plant reported rejections / down ships. (QICS System)

Job Requirements:

  • Comply with Honda Health and Safety Policies.
  • Electrical – ability to troubleshoot 480 Volts and below and 4kV. Ability to troubleshoot 12 kV would be beneficial.
  • Demonstrate the ability to plan/prioritize work assignments, submit schedules, set clear milestones & completion dates.
  • Good use of conflict resolution & persuasion; builds constructive & effective relationships.
  • Self-motivated, creative thinking, and a positive attitude, continuous improvement and customer service driven.
  • Ability to troubleshoot mechanical equipment, such as HVAC, Refrigeration, Air Compressors, Air Dryers, Boilers, Cooling Towers, Pumps, Plumbing & Piping.
  • Working knowledge of facilities control & monitoring systems (ex. EBO, Siemens, ION/Powerlogic, etc.).
  • Proficient in facility equipment troubleshooting.
  • Ability to troubleshoot electrical systems including control circuits up to medium voltage (4160 V) motors and contactors.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills with the ability to clearly express ideas.
  • Mechanical – understanding of HVAC, Refrigeration, Air Compressors, Air Dryers, Boilers, Cooling Towers, Pumps, Plumbing & Piping.
  • Must use time effectively & prevent irrelevant issues or distractions from interfering with work completion.
  • Working knowledge of Facilities low and medium voltage electrical equipment (including substations, switches, cable, starters, VFDs, MCC, breakers, bus duct) and Building Management Systems.
  • Demonstrate the ability to collect & analyse pertinent date, identify root cause, and develop effective countermeasures.
  • Willing to suggest improvements or enhancements to facilities operations.
  • Complete the required ES Technical Development Program (TDP) consisting of approx. 700 hours of classwork and hands-on training over a 4 yr. period.
  • Work area focused on interior and exterior facilities mechanical room and manufacturing floor environment
  • Participate in Honda related improvement activities such as Honda Improvement Program (HIP)
  • Willingness to work weekends, all shifts, overtime, and shutdowns as required.
  • Ability to work effectively with production, equipment service associates and contractors
  • Infrequent – Occasional trips to other plants or suppliers (less than 1x per month)
  • Ability to prioritize work assignments with efficient time management.

Qualification & Experience:

  • 3 years’ experience in Facilities environment (Industrial, or heavy Commercial). Will consider well qualified entry level candidates.
  • 2 year Technical Degree or equivalent equipment service experience.
  • Minimum computer (Word, PowerPoint, Excel) and Facilities related computer systems skills (including Maximo).
