Job Description:
Serve as a Process Engineer within the East Liberty Plant (ELP) Assembly (AF) department, responsible for assembly process development and determining the sequence of assembly for new spec parts based upon existing process/parts lay out/ process standard time (ST) and/or the maintenance and optimization of established process.
Job Responsibilities:
- Conduct studies to determine the most efficient sequence of operations and workflow and recommends methods for maximum utilization of production facilities and personnel
- Develop Plans and Schedules for projects. Set timelines and detailed activities. Hold meetings with cross functional engineering groups to ensure completeness.
- Identify root causes of process production problems and provide countermeasures and implement based on prioritization
- Study current production processes and balance them to improve ergonomics/safety, production, and process efficiency issues
- Review/Analyze data and physical parts for concerns related to fit, quality, safety, etc
- Investigate problems, develop solutions, issue Countermeasure Request Forms (CRFs), and negotiate responsibilities and countermeasures through Quality Stabilization Sheet (QSS) and CRF gebas
- Process QICS defect requests from the production floor, train associates on changes, and perform data corrections daily
- Perform complex problem analysis related to Assembly processes
- Collect feedback from the production floor and address their concerns.
- Read Parts drawings, Spec Notices, 3D CATIA data.
- Lead Assembly Department in the development of AAI processes
- For Major Model Change, Check the BOM and add new parts as necessary, verify team responsibility for all combinations
- Communicate Mass Production process and design information to other Assembly team members
- Lead Quality Inspection Control System (QICS) PDC development for AF Department, correlate to the BOM, create new parts, and assign PDCs accordingly
Job Requirements:
- Knowledge of: Process Data Development and Analysis (PDDA); process engineering (MOST); parts numbers, BOM, and applications; Assembly (AF) quality control systems and specification; Assembly (AF) techniques and processes; New model project development; quality control systems and workflows; Assembly (AF) department layout and equipment.
- Skill in: Utilizing 2D and 3D drafting utilities – CATIA; analytical problem solving and decision making; project management.
Qualification & Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (e.g., Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial and Robotics); or 6 years engineering experience required.
- 2 years mass production assembly experience, preferred.
