Job Description:
The Registered nurse provides ongoing evaluation of care management in the PACU. The RN will be located at the Richmond Veterans Medical Center. The Registered Nurse is responsible and accountable for the provision of direct patient care for the delivery of quality nursing care to a diverse Veteran patient population.
Job Responsibilities:
- Provides considerate care, respecting patients personal values and cultural belief system
- Establishes patient care priorities to ensure safe and effective patient care
- Administers medication in accordance with established procedures/policy
- Preforms safe work practices appropriate for the position, e.g., how to report a safety hazard, proper body mechanics, or use of personal protective equipment
- Provides appropriate care to the age-related needs of patients
- Administers prescribed therapies utilizing appropriate judgement
- Evaluates other staff against standards of practice and regulations to improve compliance
- Functions as the Charge Nurse, Team Leader role guiding and directing others who provide patient care
- Evaluates practice of self and others against standards of practice and relevant regulations such as nurse practice acts, Joint
- Commission, OHSA, professional nursing organizations and takes action to improve compliance
Job Requirements:

- Administers prescribed therapies utilizing appropriate judgement
- You may be required to serve a probationary period
- Subject to a background/security investigation
- Must be proficient in written and spoken English
- Selected applicants will be required to complete an online onboarding process
- Must pass pre-employment physical examination
- Evaluates other staff against standards of practice and regulations to improve compliance
- Functions as the Charge Nurse, Team Leader role guiding and directing others who provide patient care
- Evaluates practice of self and others against standards of practice and relevant regulations such as nurse practice acts, Joint
- Commission, OHSA, professional nursing organizations and takes action to improve compliance
Qualification & Experience:
- An ADN or Diploma in Nursing and approximately 1 year of nursing practice/experience; OR and ADN or Diploma in Nursing and a bachelor’s degree in a related field with no additional nursing practice/experience; OR a Bachelors of Science in Nursing (BSN) with no additional nursing practice/experience.
