In the position, along the way you will be expected to contribute in all stages of the technology development process as well as building out the lab, prototyping facilities, test systems and evaluating integrating processes into existing Oil Sands operating infrastructure. You will be comfortable sourcing components, solutions and services as part of the overall development process. Problem-solving, testing and evaluation, iteration, improvement, and innovation are part of your passion.
Job Responsibilities:
- Research and support brainstorming of new approaches for fit within existing operations
- Craft, review, and edit reports, and communications that share progress with specific technology development projects.
- You will work out of our Calgary head office, located in the Suncor Energy Centre at 150 – 6th Ave S.W.
- Compile, and analyse data to model new process configurations for both technical and economic feasibility

Support bench, lab and pilot scale operations of new technologies
Job Requirements:
- Comfortable working across disciplines mass and heat transfer, reactor design, fluid mechanics, mechanical systems, power conversion, test & instrumentation, control systems. Familiarity with bitumen conversion methods is a plus but not necessary
- Background in experimental work and testing. Analytical skills bolstered by familiarity with e.g. Matlab, LabVIEW, PROII, Hysys, PowerBI

- Currently enrolled in 3rd or 4th year of an undergraduate Chemical Engineering degree at an accredited university and returning to full-time studies after the work term (attach your transcripts with your application)
- You have experience working in an energy processing environment and thrive in the chaotic — but creative — environment, valuing the autonomy and accountability that Suncor’s technology development approach provides
