Suncor Careers – Electrical Supervisor, Mine Maintenance

Job Description:

Are you passionate about safety and looking for an exciting opportunity as an Electrical Supervisor in Fort McMurray? In this dynamic role you will be accountable to work with the mine operations, reliability, supply chain management and maintenance planning teams to maintain a reliable mobile equipment fleet.

Job Responsibilities:

• Provide technical feedback and complete technical bid evaluations for maintenance assets during the procurement process
• Support the recruitment process and supervise a team of journeypersons with varying trades
• Manage and lead the crew in the areas of safety, productivity, work standards and maintaining documentation of each employee that will allow administration to evaluate compliance
• Define specific mine maintenance scopes of work, maintenance strategies and continuously seek opportunities for development of our team
• Provide electrical maintenance expertise to build and sustain best-in-class mine maintenance programs
• Champion Suncor’s safety-driven, maintenance culture at our Base Plant location
• Ensure that equipment availability meets or exceeds all production requirements by ensuring that our fleets are maintained in a safe manner
• Ensure the implementation of safe work practices and procedures throughout the maintenance team

Job Requirements:

• Five or more years of maintenance experience in mobile equipment (such as heavy haul trucks, auxiliary equipment and shovels)
• A valid Alberta or Interprovincial Electrician Journeyperson ticket, engineering degree, or other applicable experience
• Knowledge and experience with setting up maintenance service packages on mobile equipment fleets including Caterpillar, Komatsu, and Hitachi equipment.
• Three or more years of demonstrated supervisory experience with the ability to deliver on aggressive timelines

• A valid driver’s licence and a clean driving record

Qualification & Experience:

• Familiarity with a Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS)
• Experience within oil sands/petrochemical industry
• Experience working in a unionized environment
• A continuous improvement mindset and you are able to seek greater knowledge and understanding of the systems, process and hazards in the workplace
• An exceptional safety mindset – you do not take or tolerate shortcuts and if the procedure is incorrect, you strive to fix it
