Job Responsibilities:
- Lay out, fit, and fabricate metal components to assemble structures, launch component supports and pressure vessels
- Lead contract welders when job size and schedule require increased team sizes – training and monitoring work quality of contractors
- Orient new team members; assist in assigning and reassigning tasks; assist in scheduling daily work assignments; and assist others on work procedures and ensuring the performance standards are met
- Assist supervisor in coaching, mentoring, and training team members
- Communicate to the team the assignment, project, problem to be solved, deadlines, and issues for review
- Lead problem solving and collaboration of SpaceX tasks and assignments
Job Requirements:
- Ability to pass Air Force background check for Cape Canaveral
- Will be tested to ASME requirements prior to hiring
- Must be able to pass visual before being X-rayed
- Must be available to work both shifts: 1st shift (M-F) 6 AM – 4:30 PM, 2nd shift (M-F) 4 PM – 2:30 AM
- Physical effort including standing, lifting and carrying moderately heavy materials or equipment up to 35 lbs
- May be necessary to travel occasionally to other SpaceX locations
Qualification & Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalency certificate
- 5+ years of structural fabrication and welding experience
- 5+ years of piping system or pressure vessel fabrication and welding experience
