Job Description:
Shell’s Trading & Supply is a recognized global energy trading organisation and key segment of Royal Dutch Shell (RDS). The traded portfolio includes crude oil, refined products, LNG, natural gas, electrical power, carbon-offset instruments, and renewable energy certificates. Larger T&S office locations are London, Houston, Singapore, Dubai, Rotterdam, Calgary and Barbados. Shell Energy combines the divisions Shell LNG Marketing & Trading (SLMT); Shell Energy Americas (SEAM) which includes Shell Energy Brazil (SEB) and Shell Energy Mexico (SEM); Shell Energy Europe and Global Environmental Products (SEE – E); Shell Energy Australia (SE AU); and Shell Energy Asia (SEA). Key activities include wholesale trading, sales to B2B customers and optimisation of the trade book including off-take from Integrated Gas and New Energies (IG/NE). Business development activities grow the Shell Energy portfolio.
Job Responsibilities:
- Maintain T&S’ relationships with financial regulators and/or trading regulators (exchanges) including the Energy Regulatory Authorities and Independent Energy Market Operator on all matters and handling requests for information and other inquiries from trading regulators.
- Provide guidance and advice to the SE India business on local regulations, requirements and licensing conditions (Including for example, where marketing materials, systems and processes may be subject to such requirements).
- Assist the T&S Compliance Training team with the allocation, content and delivery of training; Providing input to Compliance Risk Assessments.
- Support. other regional and global team advisors as and when required.
- Acting as the first point of contact for all regulatory & compliance advice to the business.
- Manage the escalation and response to the business of more complex regulatory & compliance or Code of Conduct queries to the relevant Compliance SME.
- Carry out investigation into any local regulatory breaches or violations as and when required (in conjunction with the T&S Incident Management team); Participating in SE India LT meetings and providing advice when required.
- Keep abreast of all relevant regulations and developments affecting SE India businesses and working with the T&S Regulation team to interpret and provide advice to the businesses accordingly.
- Review and provide advice in relation to new business products or activities as part of any T&S new business approval process.
- Provide guidance and advice to the businesses on the T&S Compliance Manual and Shell Code of Conduct.
- Assist the SE India business in understanding the compliance risk implications of their existing and proposed activities and provide guidance on potential mitigations and LOD1 controls.
- Develop an effective business partnering relationship with SE India.
- Develop and maintain a strong understanding of SE India’s business, the external regulatory environment in the India power and gas markets and the compliance risks and controls.
Job Requirements:
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Robust understanding of global financial regulations, compliance requirements.
- Significant knowledge of the T&S Business and/or experience in the India electricity and gas markets.
- Team orientated and collaborative personality, with the ability to work independently and share knowledge broadly.
- Excellent interpersonal and relationship building skills, including the ability to interact with and influence at all levels of an organisation and engage with a wide range of stakeholders.
- Strong understanding of trading instruments, trading strategies and risk concepts.
- Ability to speaking up, escalating concerns and can provide an independent view and voice.
- Ability to resolve conflict and deliver tough messages with grace.
Qualification & Experience:
- A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university
