Job Description:

Responsible for supporting the Director, Global Tax Operations in overseeing global tax operations, including global tax forecasting and variance analysis, global tax compliance and management, reconciliations, SEC reporting, This is a hands-on role which requires attention to detail, the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a dynamic and fast paced environment, the ability to effectively collaborate across multiple departments, internal and external stakeholders, and cultures (given the global nature of the role), and the ability to communicate complex tax rules to business partners/stakeholders in a simple and concise manner. Although tax strategy (new law analysis, tax audits and defense) are overseen by the Tax Strategy team, the Manager Tax Operations is required to work closely with Global Tax Strategy team to ensure that tax positions and new business initiatives are correctly disclosures on tax returns and provision.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain appropriate internal controls in place over accounting for income taxes and global tax operations matters. This includes preparation, review and presentation of all global balance sheet tax reconciliations quarterly to the Senior Vice President and Chief Accounting Officer, and well as maintenance of the UK Senior Accounting Rules (SAO) rules and control testing.
  • Preparation and/or review of quarterly balance sheet reconciliations for assigned companies/accounts on a quarterly basis. This includes review and/or creating adequate supporting documentation and presentation to the SVP and Chief Accounting Officer on a quarterly basis. Where reconciliations are prepared by International Finance Teams, the tax department must still demonstrate ownership of accounts.
  • Support management and external auditors on tax accounting issues
  • Support accounting for income taxes (ASC 740) for all subsidiaries, including quarterly tax provision workpapers and journal entries, analysis of tax accounting literature, and SEC compliance
  • Support in the preparation of US tax returns workpapers;
  • Maintenance of global tax compliance calendar and ensure global adherence to Company Global Tax Compliance Protocols
  • Support in statutory accounts as relevant for tax, including review and tie out of income tax footnote
  • Support global forecast and variance analysis, and compilation and presentation of global variance analysis monthly to internal stakeholders.
  • Support Director Global Tax Operations in all required areas, including (1) global tax provision (2) global tax compliance including tax returns and account reconciliations (3) Managing SOX controls or other similar global requirements as related to tax operation function (4) forecasting and variance analysis and (5) Statutory accounts.
  • Act as a liaison with outside tax counsel and directs projects for which such individuals are engaged, including tax return prepares.

  • Select oversight of the tax returns and return-to-provision adjustments for the certain Company’s international subsidiaries, including active collaboration with International finance teams to ensure timely and accurate filing of foreign tax returns
  • Team with Tax Strategy to ensure that tax positions, restructuring or new business initiatives / structures are correctly reported on timely filed tax returns and income tax provisions.

Job Requirements:

  • Experience: minimum five years experience in Public Accounting or seven plus years industry experience in Tax Department, including experience in global/multinational tax operations
  • Certifications: Chartered Accountant, Chartered Tax Adviser, CPA or JD (CPA preferred given tax accounting focus)
  • Foreign languages a plus!
  • Familiarity with systems such as JDE, Essbase, Hyperion, OneSource Tax Provision preferred
  • Strong ASC740 background and experience in an global/multinational company or environment
  • Degrees: Advanced tax degree preferred

Qualification & Experience:

  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Typical PC and software skills including Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, tax research tools and databases
  • Strong technical research skills.
  • Excellent judgment and the ability to make decisions and assess acceptable levels of business risk.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple projects and competing priorities simultaneously
  • Ability to effectively communicate with executive management, including the ability to simplify technical jargon.
  • Ability to write reports and business correspondence.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
  • Strong analytical and reasoning skills.
  • Ability to simplify, condense and communicate technical information and respond to questions from groups of executives, managers, clients, customers and the general public.
  • Ability to read, analyse and interpret general business periodical, professional journals, technical procedures or governmental regulations.
