Job Description:
This position will be responsible for working directly with the service providers to resolve all discrepancies. We’re looking for someone who will drive continually improving and detailed financial data mining and operational analytics for three Transportation teams (1) Regional, (2) E-Commerce and DC Operations. The FAP Analyst will provide financial information allowing Transportation teams to make effective real time decisions with up-to-date information. They will also work with Logistics Service Providers (LSP) and internal/ external customers.
Job Responsibilities:
- Provide day to day operations support for freight payment activities and related communication among internal/external partners, budget owners, and LSP’s to ensure timely payment of invoices
- Lead aspects of weekly freight payment funding and monthly financial close
- Support LSP Management by compiling and analyzing historical shipping information to identify trends and help develop bid packages
- Partner with Distribution, Finance and LSP’s to improve Mail & Ship account reconciliation processes through root cause analysis
- Establish freight payment rules and make sure that payment is applied to the accurate G/L account
- Continuously identify and detail opportunities to improve current freight payment processes
- Assist in the creation and publication of transportation budgets and financial reporting
- Partner with Finance, Accounting, IT and Nike’s freight payment service provider to resolve any issues with data feeds
- Identify cost improvement opportunities
Job Requirements:
- Experience with operations and freight terms in key modes of outbound transportation such as small package, full truckload and LTL
- Proficiency with SAP, Excel, Access, Word, PowerPoint, Database Management and data blending tools such as Transplace and/or Centiro
Qualification & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, or Supply Chain/Logistics or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience
- E-commerce shipping experience preferred
- Experience with EDI Integration with carriers
- 2+ years of experience in both freight payment and reporting/analytics
- Experience working as a Financial Analyst or Transportation Analyst with a US retailer or major 3PL or carrier
- Experience in direct support of transportation/logistics operations in a Retail/Digital supply chain environment and use of project management tools and methodologies is required
- Ability to interpret carrier rates, contracts and tariffs and have experience in the use of distribution strategies such as cross-docking, retail pool and zone skipping
- Experience working with freight payment agencies, collections departments, or carrier A/R departments
