Job Description:

Serves as the Deputy Project Scientist for the Hinode mission and research scientist within the solar physics group with a focus on flare and coronal investigations. Assists the Hinode Project Office with mission management activities, reviews, and science support. Coordinates mission and research activities with both domestic and international partners.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Communicate scientific and technical results by publishing first- or co-authored manuscripts in the refereed scientific literature and conveying scientific or technical results at relevant conferences.
  • Work with national agencies and international partners in designing and implementing an integrated plan for Hinode operations and science observations.
  • Submits research proposals as principal investigator or contributes to them either directly or indirectly (i.e., performed work that was used to support a proposal).
  • Maintaining cross-cultural relationships with interagency and international partners and alliances.
  • Provides science leadership and/or support to missions, instrument development efforts, or mission data analysis.
  • Conduct research to advance the measurement and scientific understanding of the Sun and its extended atmosphere.
