Job Description:

The incumbent serves as a Biologist performing specified portions of scientific work involving studies of the functions, environmental response, biological activities, and/or processes of humans and animals, and their component parts. Due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, some CDC employees have been authorized to work virtually. However, when CDC is cleared to return back to work, you will be required to report to the location identified in the vacancy announcement for which you applied.

Job Responsibilities:

  • As a Biologist, you will: Identify methods and procedures to collect data, conduct experiments and studies adjusting the methods and procedures as appropriate during the studies or experiments.
  • Improve existing study methods, practices, and/or techniques to address current and evolving issues.
  • Perform assays and analysis accordance with established precedents, laboratory/clinical practices and procedures.
  • Develop and apply new laboratory assays and data analyses to address research questions.
  • Identify unusual or unexpected results and their probable causes from data collected from biological studies.

Job Requirements:

Qualification & Experience:

  • Basic Qualifications: Degree: Applicant must has a bachelor’s or higher degree that includes the major field of study in biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or related disciplines appropriate to the position.
  • Combination of education and experience: Courses equivalent to a major, as shown in above, plus appropriate experience or additional education.
