Job Description:
The Software Project Manager is responsible for managing the scope, schedule, and cost of a project. The PM is not solely responsible for these areas but is fully responsible to ensure the management of these areas occurs in a controlled manner. The PM will review job assignments and adjust based on status of workflow. Where possible, the PM may help resolve technical issues or, at a minimum, lead the forum where solution options are discussed and driven to a conclusion. Ideally the PM stays with the project for its life cycle from concept to production launch and on through post launch support. The primary focus of this role is the overall management of program workflow through the JIRA work management tool but can also encompass other project management responsibilities.
Job Responsibilities:
- Passionately focus on JIRA data accuracy and engage with user teams to ensure data integrity
- Provide JIRA reporting on a regular cadence for consumption by management and for action by user teams
- Provide project management leadership to a large and broad community of stakeholder
- Assist in the creation of JIRA usage processes and workflows for various JIRA project and JIRA types
- Proactively organize and drive meetings as necessary to ensure that Release Train and Program Increment goals and milestones are met. Drive JIRA burndown activities as required to meet milestones on-time
- Own project management functions based on standard PM practices and the software development lifecycle
- Review, align, and track the progress of Ford and supplier teams against the Ford Driver Assistance Technologies work plan
- Develop custom JIRA filters for consumption by stakeholders and for report-out in areas that require special focus
- Coach and train various teams on defined JIRA usage practices and proper usage of the tooling
- Provide subject matter expertise in the use of JIRA, both as a work management user and as a data content manager
- Drive adoption and proper use of JIRA across multiple suppliers and organizations
- Develop standardized JIRA filters, Dashboards, Plans for consumption by stakeholders at various levels of the organization. Modify reporting content as necessary to ensure relevance to each organizational level
- Provide input to Program Managers as an aid for program level decision making
- Provide expertise in developing plans with commonly used methodologies – Waterfall and Agile
- Lead a culture of continuous improvement and proactive ownership. Drive productivity improvements and productivity gaps to resolution.
- Proactively organize and drive meetings as necessary (recurring and non-recurring) to ensure that JIRA data is accurate, relevant, and actionable
Job Requirements:
- Deep knowledge of SAFE and Agile methodologies as a practitioner
- Master’s Degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or Controls Engineering
- Project Management Professional certification or equivalent
- Understanding of Advanced Driver Assistance Systems
- Exceptional ability in obtaining results through collaboration with individuals from diverse backgrounds, with strong personality traits, and with divergent priorities
- Understanding of Ford’s product development processes, including software development and release requirements
- Extensive experience using Confluence and the ability to develop/maintain rich content wiki pages
- Strong understanding of the software development lifecycle methodology
Qualification & Experience:
- 3+ years’ experience as a Project Management practitioner with embedded software development teams
- Bachelor’s Degree in Comp Sci, Electrical Eng or related field
- 5+ years’ experience as a Project Management practitioner in software product development
- 3+ years’ experience in SW Program Management in a technical software discipline within the automotive domain
- 3+ years’ in the usage of the JIRA work management tool or equivalent for product development and delivery
