Job Description:
The ideal candidate for this position has experience with the development, evaluation, and implementation of hazard-resistant building codes and standards in federal programs, State, Local, and Tribal jurisdictions, and other relevant stakeholder organizations. This position starts at a salary of $104,184 (GS-13). Apply for this exciting opportunity to become a member of the Region 10 team within FEMA.
Job Responsibilities:
- Representing FEMA at inter-agency meetings; coordinating with Other Federal Agencies/organizations such as State Code Commissions, Building Officials Associations, Industry Groups and other organizations; overseeing contractor support, providing data and giving presentations as needed to maximize collaboration in maintaining or improving community resilience through current building codes and standards.
- Supporting the implementation of the FEMA Building Code Strategy within the Region and coordinating directly with Regional Programs to prioritize the Region’s activities that advance the adoption and enforcement of disaster-resistant building codes and standards, pre- and post-disaster for FEMA programs and communities.
- Supporting the review, update and development of building codes policy and integrating building codes, standards, specification and best practices into Agency policy and programs.
- Providing support to regional programs on building codes, benefit-cost analysis, and implementation of mitigation solutions.
- Regularly collaborate and engage with FEMA Building Science professionals and represent the Region on the FEMA Building Code Work Group, policy working groups and committees on building codes.
- Participating in the development of applicable hazard-resistant building codes and standards and engaging State, Local, Tribal and other partners to advance improvements to disaster-resistant model building codes & standards. Identifying ways to increase building codes capability and capacity in the Region and among State, Local, and Tribal partners through outreach and communication.
