Job Description:
The Mechanical Engineer provides mechanical engineering support to the business teams for pertaining to maintenance of static equipment and piping systems within the Refinery.
Job Responsibilities:
- Analysis of existing systems to determine fitness for service and remaining life
- Support detailed execution planning for new/replacement components & provide field support during the execution phase
- Communicate to the Business Teams any known vulnerabilities with identified risk categories and resolution options for risk management.
- Stays up to date with the activities of the Machinery Network within Company; initiates equipment or program upgrades, as necessary to stay current with the latest standards.
- Maintaining the reliability and operability of fixed equipment assets (piping, valves, towers, tanks, furnaces, cooling towers, infrastructure, etc.)
- Designing new/repairing existing pressure containing systems to meet code/jurisdictional requirements
- Quantify equipment risks to assist the business team in performing risk-based maintenance prioritization
- Making recommendations for equipment/business improvement.
Job Requirements:
- Excellent analytical problem solving capabilities and a proven reputation to set high standards and promote improvements
- Knowledge of applicable industry codes, and standards
- Proficient in Microsoft Office suite software programs
- Strong team working skills that enable working as part of or leading an effective team for troubleshooting or work item completion
- Professional Engineer in good standing or registered Engineering in Training working towards professional status
- Experience in a large industrial complex or refinery highly desired (targeting early to mid-career individuals 3-10 yrs)
- Knowledge of static equipment design, fabrication, and commissioning principles
- Leadership skills to enable influencing others within the organization without formal authority in order to progress significant work items
