Job Description:

The Rapid Charging Fund is OZEV’s flagship infrastructure investment fund, designed to target interventions along England’s Strategic Road Network to improve long-distance journeys for EV users and alleviate range anxiety. Often referred to as Project Rapid, we oversee a fund of £950m that is focused on upgrading grid connections at SRN motorway service areas, as well as other connected policy interventions. Alongside this, OZEV has an existing suite of funds to support more local and on-street charging infrastructure, including a new fund of £90m which will target larger-scale on-street charging schemes led by local authorities which is still in the design phase.

Job Responsibilities:

• Managing the finance aspects of external contracts and providing finance function to the design of the programme delivery body;
• Overseeing processes, documents and tools that facilitate the embedding of best finance practice, including budget management, across the team;
• Providing finance advice to policy colleagues, helping to develop the programme’s implementation and deployment plan, and providing specialist knowledge informing finance aspects of the programme business case development;
• Working alongside commercial advisors to ensure the delivery of the programme achieves best value for money, conforms to existing regulations and best practice and maximises the role of private investment alongside public;
• Leading on engagement with finance colleagues in DfT, BEIS and other government departments;
• Actively contributing to the creation of finance plans and ensuring the project delivery is financed successfully;

Job Requirements:

• We’re looking for someone with excellent financial experience and analytical skills, who has previously worked in fast paced or major project environments. You will have excellent communication skills both verbally and in writing, with the ability to adapt your delivery to suit a wide variety of audiences, maximising both impact and understanding.
