Job Responsibilities:

  • Adapts, Improves/develops and Procures solutions that provide measurable business benefits
  • Sets the vision, direction and annual business plan for the global systems team, to ensure defined impact, benefits and partnership objectives are realised in accordance with the overarching BC strategy and Business Improvement plans. Time horizons are largely annual, with an awareness of medium-term developments.
  • Set the vision for BAU systems implementation, management and iterative development in line with the Business Improvement and Global Exams Delivery strategy and ensuring the British Council remains at the forefront of emerging technology usage.
  • Ensures the development and implementation of formal quality assurance and evaluation procedures for proposed and current global systems and supplier systems tenders.
  • Makes authoritative professional recommendations about the focus and content of major product/programmes, the Business Improvement portfolio, ways of working, appropriate high-level exams systems partnerships which have a significant impact on the Council’s performance in the short- and medium-term
  • Provides inspiring and motivational leadership that role-models the British Council’s values and behaviours, and empowers and enables staff to deliver excellence, whilst promoting equity, diversity and inclusion.
  • Identifies new approaches and/or techniques which enhance the efficiency, quality and wider impact of the exams global systems and how they impact the business
  • Own the emerging and current systems landscape for the SBU ensuring that design, development and systems management are provided by Global Information Systems (GIS), Transformation programmes and third-party suppliers to the standard and levels required by the business.
  • Ensure the full scale and scope of the systems changing landscape is developed and robust governance frameworks, System development approaches, business user engagement and evaluation of business benefits established by utilizing strong analytical, interpretive and innovative thinking.

Job Requirements:

  • Demonstrable experience of using the leading methodologies in systems design and re-engineering to manage, maintain and iteratively develop value adding systems.
  • Demonstrable Broad experience of successfully leading on, developing and delivering global systems landscape within a complex orgnisation from a business user perspective and ensuring end user satisfaction.
  • Demonstrable experience of working with third party suppliers for off- the shelf solutions and supplier management.
  • Demonstrable experience of analysing, interpreting and using innovative solutions for business benefits both in the development, enhancement and usage of technology solutions
  • Demonstrated experience of successfully delivering large scale projects across a complex global orgnisation and supporting projects throughout their full development lifecycle.
  • Demonstrable knowledge of drawing on innovative technologies and solutions to ensure the robustness of technical developments and maintenance throughout delivery and utilization within global businesses.
  • Working knowledge of progress change management tools and industry standards.
  • Experience of working with and/or leading virtual teams to deliver business objectives / programmes
