This position is responsible for track maintenance (constructing, inspecting, repairing track and other railroad property/facilities); equipment operation and maintenance; crew and equipment transportation to/from jobsite; travel/work in assigned geographic area. Job Responsibilities: Work on and around heavy/moving machinery Remove/replace ballast Extreme all-weather conditions Walk and perform work on uneven surfaces Safety-sensitive work environment Order material: welding supplies, grinding stones, reports, safety equipment Perform maintenance by pulling spikes from ties, drilling holes through rails for bolt insertion, and fitting bolts Remove/install ties Operate non-powered hand tools such as shovels, picks, axes, cutters, sledgehammers Operate proper electric, pneumatic, or hydraulic hand tools such as drills, impact wrenches, jacks, power saws, and grinders Lift/carry track material Lift/carry track material with assistance Repair and rebuild railroad track using power and non-power hand tools Operate welding truck safely and efficiently Clear right-of-way of litter and cargo spillage Cut brush, trees and vegetation Lift, roll, and adjust rails Loud noise and fumes Maintain records and time sheets. Manually compress ballast Qualification & Experience: Follow safety policies and procedures along with rules compliance; wear required personal protective equipment, including respirators Able to meet the above travel requirements At least 18 years of age, or will be by the anticipated start date listed above Able to use hands to perform activities involving holding, grasping, turning and pulling Able to read, write and communicate (speak, hear and understand) English Able to work the above shift/hours Possess a valid state-issued driver’s license Able to work safely in the above working conditions Bend, walk, stand and sit for extended time; use hand tools Ability to report for duty at the designated work location Occasionally climb on/off equipment Able to lift and carry up to 60 lbs occasionally Ability to discriminate and differentiate between verbal and non-verbal sounds (signals, alarms, etc.) in the work environment Able to visually distinguish colors - red, blue, green, yellow, and lunar (clear) light Job Details: Company: BNSF Railway Vacancy Type: Full Time Job Location: Aberdeen, SD, USA Application Deadline: N/A Apply Here vacancyvite.com
