Job Description: The Management Trainee (MT) Program is specifically designed to develop leaders who will drive the future of our organization. This training program is approximately 6 months in length and includes both classroom and on-the-job training. You will gain experience in our Track, Engineering Services, Structures, Signal, Mechanical, Transportation, and Environmental departments. Job Responsibilities: Demonstrate ability to complete tasks regardless of obstacles. Provide technical support to apprentice employees. Provide periodic updates to the General Foreman to ensure daily plan requirements are met. Work effectively with others in a team setting. Recognize and respond to unexpected situations and tight deadlines effectively and safely. Demonstrate flexibility and adaptability to changing task priorities and work situations. Ensure labor and equipment is positioned to inspect, test and repair equipment to meet the needs of the daily plan. Demonstrate leadership skills in areas or roles outside of normal job responsibilities. Express ideas and information in a clear and concise manner. Directly supervise shop craft employees to safely execute terminal or shop operating plan. Ensure compliance with BNSF’s employment policies, safety rules, scheduled agreements and Association of American Railroads (AAR)/Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) regulations. Prepare and conduct job safety briefings with employees. Job Requirements: Less than three (3) years of work experience in a professional work environment. When calculating work experience, EXCLUDE internships or positions held while in high school or college. Proven leadership experience and excellent oral and written communication skills. Authorization to work in the US without Company sponsorship now AND in the future. Ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays on a regular basis. Must have reliable transportation to and from work. Valid Driver’s License. Degree in Business, Engineering OR a similar technical program. Able to work a minimum of 40 hours per week or more as business need requires. Ability to relocate within the BNSF Railway operating system to start and/or upon career progression and/or business need. Experience working in an industrial, manufacturing, or factory environment. 2.70 or higher cumulative GPA with a degree in Engineering or Construction Management OR a 3.0 or higher cumulative GPA with a non-Engineering degree. Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Graduate degree from an accredited university to be completed prior to hire OR have obtained a degree within the past three (3) years. Able to travel approximately 10-20%. Able to work in a shop or field environment, climbing ladders and walking on uneven surfaces safely.
